Leadership Branding – Day 1

16 04 2010

I am in beautiful Las Vegas, NV for a three day superconference with the amazing Mark Hoverson. I’m here with a couple hundred people ready to learn about using Direct Response to brand yourself as a leader on the web.

The great thing about this conference is that it’s not just sitting in a room listening to a bunch of speakers. In fact, our first day as a group, we went for a breathtaking hike in the Red Rocks Canyon! Here’s a quick video I made on the trail – Enjoy!

Umemployment – In Pictures!

9 02 2010

We all have the idea that the job market is bad right now… but how bad is it? Sometimes it’s tough to figure that out by reading through line after line of government talk that leaves us more confused then satisfied.

Luckily, FiveThirtyEight helps us out by adding some nifty graphs to show us exactly where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re headed.

The FDA Weighs In on Serving Sizes

9 02 2010

You sit down with your favorite snack food and just start munching… but before you know it, you’ve consumed 5 servings of that “100 Calorie” snack that really doesn’t have much nutritional value.

The FDA is considering making “junk food” supplement facts be more accurate to what people actually eat.

Article: http://www.slashfood.com/2010/02/08/in-obesity-battle-fda-weighs-update-to-serving-sizes/

SO what are your thoughts? If you saw a big ol 500 Calories versus 100 Calories, would you still pick up the bag?

Picky Palates Approve EIRO

20 01 2010

My 6 year old son is Star of the Week in his Kindergarten class this week. He got to put together a cool posterboard all about him, can bring in things for show and tell, and can even do special crafts if he wants. When he found out, one of the first things he did was say to me, “Mommy, will you come in to my class and tell everyone about EIRO?”

It’s no secret that my kids love their EIRO (Click for Video Proof!), but I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant to give a sample to his entire Kindergarten class. You know how picky 5-6 year olds can be! But, if my son wants to share something he loves during HIS week… who am I to deny him?

So today I went to my son’s class to talk to them about this fruit juice with a funny name. My son told everyone it was sour (“in a good way… like orange juice”) which made many noses crinkle, but I explained that after they taste it once, they don’t have to finish it if they don’t like it. To make it a little more of a learning experience, I had them all think about ways to describe what EIRO tasted like to them. Here were some of the responses:

“Like apples”

“Kinda sweet”

“Orange juice. Definitely orange juice.”

“Mmmm lemonade!”

After all of the kids were done, I asked one more very important question:

How many of you liked it?

Results

Total number of kids: 20
Total number who tried it: 19

Dislike: 3

Asked for more: 3
(excluding my son!)

Summary: 84% of the children in my son’s Kindergarten class like EIRO

What does this mean?

It’s no secret that it can be tough to get kids to eat enough fruit or vegetables to meet their dietary requirements. Knowing that just 2 ounces of EIRO provides over half of the daily recommended servings of fruits for the average adult, it’s the perfect addition to your family’s diet to make up for those times we can’t always get in enough.
